It’s been a little while since i’ve update my page but rest assured I’m dedicated to being more diligent in the coming year.
THE SHIPMENT continues its world tour — 4 years and counting, y’all. WOW. It has been an incredible experience to perform a work for so many years and have the opportunity to really develop and analyze the nuance and depth of the characters and scenes. Plus, the original company is together for the first time in a year and it has been a blast!
The HarbourFront Centre in Toronto is presenting The Shipment by Young Jean Lee as part of World Stage.
World Stage is committed to providing you with live performance of unparalleled quality. Part of that commitment includes exclusive opportunities to engage with the artists and performers involved with the work.
Young Jean Lee, a rising star of American theatre, dissects what it means to be black in America in this hilarious and shocking play. Brazenly theatrical and transcendentally lyrical, THE SHIPMENT moves from the urban dreams of would-be rappers to the sitcom realism of yuppie domesticity, proving that nothing is ever as it seems. With an ending guaranteed to leave jaws hanging, this is contemporary theatre at its biggest, boldest and most daring.
So far Toronto has been treating me very well, the weather has been grey and rainy, but the hotel is comfortable and the time to reflect on life outside the hustle-and-bustle of New York has been very re-energizing.
