It’s Official! I’ve just been cast in La MaMa’s “Experiments: play reading series” in a new show entitled BRICK written by Victor Kaufold and directed by George Ferencz.
I’m almost embarrassed to say that after 10 years of working in the downtown/experimental theatre scene in New York I have never performed at La MaMa. La MaMa was founded in 1961 by the late Ellen Stewart and continues to serve as a home and support center for an innumerable number of emerging and established artists of performance.
Victor Kaufold first approached me on Facebook last September about participating in an early reading of BRICK at The Lark Theatre. I had a great experience reading and discussing the show – although I had to rush home afterward to make sure the ceiling in my bedroom wasn’t leaking from all the rain that day…I digress. A few days ago Victor contacted me again about BRICK at La MaMa and I was excited about the opportunity to work more on his show and get La MaMa on my resume.
I met with George Ferencz, the Experiments Coordinator, yesterday for an audition and after a short conversation about my resume and experience he offered me the part! Victor’s piece, BRICK, is poignant, contemporary, daring, and funny. Come out to La MaMa on March 28th, at 7:30pm and see for yourself! More information HERE.
A little more information about the Experiments Play Reading series at La MaMa
The Experiments Play Reading Series is held monthly from September through May. All play readings in the series are free and open to the public to encourage actors, playwrights and community members to enjoy the series.
